Sharing our experiences plays an important role in our literature and meetings. Whether spoken or written, our personal stories offer newcomers the chance to recognise that they are not alone, that others have been where they are now. This is often a source of great relief and gives hope.

Many groups have regular speaker meetings and some are even dedicated to this format. Those invited are not professional speakers. They may have been in the program for mere weeks or months. Or they may be long-time members. They are just fellow members who wish to share how they found Al-Anon/Alateen, how the program has helped in applying our principles to all aspects of their life.
