GTAIS
Greater Toronto Al-Anon Information Service
The GTAIS provides a forum for the Al-Anon and Alateen groups within the Toronto geographic area to exchange and share information between groups and the public. GTAIS serves Districts 16-23 and any other group that has a group conscience to support it. The Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual (P-24/27) p.66 states that an Area Information Service (AIS) serves as an avenue, “for local public outreach service, which is channeled through the Districts whenever possible.”

What does GTAIS do for your group?
Telephone Answering Service (TAS)
Our Telephone Answering Service (TAS) is staffed by experienced Al-Anon members on Mondays through Fridays. On the weekends, a volunteer checks in and responds to messages. At any other time, the caller is invited to leave a message, and the call will be
returned by the person on the next shift. The Information Line can be reached at 416-410-3809.
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Poster Campaign
With an estimated over 2 million riders using the TTC daily, the GTAIS has placed posters with Al-Anon information into as many stations as possible for a number of years. Al-Anon members have shared heart-warming stories about how seeing the posters has helped them find their way to Al-Anon.
The Ontario Regional Conference (ORC) of AA with Al-Anon and Alateen Participation
Every year, GTAIS provides funding and volunteers to run the literature table and hospitality suite at the ORC. A chance to pick up reading material, to enjoy a moment of fellowship or serenity and to connect with others is built right into the weekend.
Al-Anon Day of Recovery
An Al-Anon Day of Recovery is offered each year either on Zoom or in person. This day is an opportunity for growth through story telling and sharing of experiences.
Pri-Med Conference
This premier conference for healthcare professionals happens at the International Centre in Mississauga every May. For three years, GTAIS has provided Literature, business cards, prescription pads with contact information along with providing a valuable resource for educating those in attendance at the conference. Volunteers continually report that many professionals have never heard of Al-Anon or realize the effects of alcoholism on the whole family so we believe this is a powerful initiative. This initiative is reviewed on an annual basis.
