A formal referral is not necessary for you and your client.
You can browse the Ontario South website for more information, or go the World Service Office (WSO) (al-anon.org). You can also give us a call between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday on +1-888-425-2666.

Local Al-Anon information services are usually listed in your telephone directory, meeting information is listed on this website and on the website of the World Service Office (see link above).

Al-Anon can arrange speakers and literature at conferences, workshops and other meetings (at schools, institutions, and other facilities).

You are welcome to attend open meetings (whether a meeting is open or closed is shown in the details of a meeting – open meetings welcome observers and friends and families of alcoholics) and speak to any of our members for more information. Special events are usually open.

Some numbers from the 2018 Canada Survey

Since 1984, the Al-Anon Family Groups’ World Service Office (WSO) has conducted a membership survey every three years.
Findings from the survey are provided as an aid to professionals, researchers, students, the media, or anyone seeking information about Al-Anon Family Groups.

Surveys also document the benefits of Al-Anon from the perspective of members who have seen the quality of their lives improve after participating in the Al-Anon program.
Specific objectives for the study are to:
-Determine the demographic and sociographic profile of Al-Anon Family Group members.
-Identify the relationship between the Al-Anon member and the alcoholic.
-Measure the impact that an alcoholic has had on the Al-Anon members’ lives.
-Determine the impact of the Al-Anon Family Groups program on the quality of life of the members.

The 2018 Canadian Al-Anon/Alateen Membership Survey revealed that 68% of our members were referred to Al-Anon by professionals.

Many Al-Anon members continue to seek professional assistance in addition to regular attendance at meetings. The role between Al-Anon and the professional community has always been one of interchange, cooperation, and support.
